Greetings Fellow Option Football Enthusiasts!
Joey Lozano from Austin, Texas here. I am a writer and the author of the only two books ever written about the I-Bone offense. The I-Bone was used by the University of Colorado to win the 1990 college football national championship. Both of these books on the I-Bone were published by Coaches Choice Books and Video, the leading publisher of instructional books, DVDs and other learning materials for the coaching profession.
The I-Bone enables a team to run the Wishbone, Houston Veer, and I offenses -- all from the same formation -- and with greater versatility, deception, passing capability, and scoring potential. It also incorporates motion to employ the runningbacks as a pass receiver, lead blocker or decoy. In addition, it features non-option running and play-action passing plays designed to exploit the defensive strategy of playing assignment football against the option. The offense was created by Dr. James R. Smith (now deceased) when he was a walk-on quarterback hopeful at Texas A&M University under Wishbone offense creator Emory Bellard.
Attached is a press release about my second book, "Attacking Defenses With Football's I-Bone Option Offense. It shows coaches how to attack each of the six most-frequently used football defenses with the I-Bone. This book is a sequel to my first book, "Coaching the I-Bone Option Attack Offense." Both books can be ordered from the Coaches Choice website at coacheschoice.com/searchadv.aspx?SearchTerm=i-bone. The books are also available on Amazon.com.
More information, including examples of I-Bone plays, is available in a story I wrote for the "America's Game" section of USA football's website. You can find the story at usafootball.com/blogs/americas-game/post/7411/book-on-i-bone-offense-realizes-deceased-creator%E2%80%99s-dream.
