Coach I How do you keep your option game intact verse a 53 double eagle or you do not run option and use power plays? Thanks Coach Wright

We will get in a heavy set and run ISV to the split end side, we will run osv out of our heavy set. We also get in trips and put the middle guy in our trips in motion and run triple to the backside as well. Other wise we will run the rocket, sprint out and throw our three step game. Hope this helps.

For me to answer I'll need some more info. Where are the ends aligned (5's, 7's on HB's, 9's) Where are the backers aligned? How wide are the threes. What is the coverage they play? What are their adjustments to ends over / trips

-Ends are aligned as 9 outside our slots -The backers are aligned Mike over NG/and the other ILB over the offensive tackles. - The three are in the middle of the B gap -Coverage is cover 0 with FS coming downhill on motion
Ends over FS comes out of the middle and covers the inside end and verse trips they will have the FS play #2 of trips and ILB play #3 Thanks Coach Wright

I'd run three or 4 things till they come out of it. 1 rocket , rocket, rocket (Crack the free and take two for 1) two - double option - chip to mike - fb inside lber to safety - hb outside lber to safety. run either play action wheel or hb seam (lber has to cover him run fade flat three step - hit hb all day dick 'em (i actually saw this defense a couple of times . double 3 to mike - run hb on wheel (lber has to go with him) give ball to fb on triple (predetermined) if lber dtays inside - he's dead on passes above
go ends over. run double option to nub - pitch off 5 hb arcs - fb wraps. run wheel by lone hb.
go trips - i think end should move to 5 - run to short side triple - no free safety in alley - pitch off lber on scrape. if lber stays inside - run double - wrap fb - pitch off 5 - nobody's home go trips - motion middle receiver - run the same - run inside hb down middle to get them to ingnore him. run play action to single receiver with middle receiver in motion - hit inside hb down middle with lber trying to cover.
use three man surface (te or tackle over) - run triple - treat as 4-3 run rocket - hb in bind run triple - chip to mike - te on c-gap backer - hb seal - (te or hb to free) (since your pitching off corner - you can run this one with twirl to influence free run mid - line - center and playside guard double nose to mike - tackle on c - gap backer - te on end - hb mike to free (run with twirl) send backside hb up seam. (playaction pull up quick - hit backside hb on dump.)
go quards to boundary - corner has to go over - veer everybody - pitch off end on speed option.
we did some other things also. saw this in play offs - we rushed for over 400 lost when we fumbled twice inside 10.
i'm just thinking of these off the top of my head (fb had 2 50+ on speed option)
any backside wheel off triple is good also. also crossing receivers backside with a clear off triple is deadly
just plan triple is poor as they have 8 on 5 basically.
i'd come up with more if i sit and draw it or see the film
beauty of offense is in numbers and angles - don't force square peg into round hole. this defense is unsound outside - make them pay there

Coach I We played a team this year and they came out in 33 odd stack and we killed them with the triple. FB had over 200yds rushing and 160 of it in the first half alone. Then the 2nd half they came out with the double eagle and we had a harder time. Because we are not a OPTION team we did not have answers for what we saw except rocket. So we ran rocket with good success and won 35-14, but only managed 14 points in the 2nd half.
The next week same thing 33 odd stack and same result FB running all over the place. The only difference they progressed with PS blitz and then we went rocket and that stopped and then we saw the double eagle again and their DE were better than my wings so rocket was tough and we did not have double options in, so we ended up losing 28-21. Thanks Coach Wright

If you are outmatched on the OL, run tackles over (Heavy) and run OSV reading the 9 and pitching off the corner/FS (your choice).
.....................................................F ................................C.....B........B.....B...........................C ...................................E......T.....N..T.....E .......................................X...G...C.G.T.T........................W ......................................A.........Q.....Z .................................................B
We reduce our splits on the tackles over side to 1 foot, this way the footwork does not change for the QB/FB from ISV to OSV. Send OT to PSLB/safety (if backer scrape), PSSB can load the same. IT and PSG double the 3 to the mike, and the C and BSG cutoff the nose. PSWR can either stalk the WR, or tag it with crack and send him to FS.
Can also run mid veer out of this as well and read the 3 and pitch off the 9. IMO, ISV is dead vs. this look, just doesn't make sense, and it's why I feel OSV and mid veer need to be a part of your playbook.

Running the Triple Option at this Defense: If you are using a balanced formation with either SE or TE vs. this 53 concept and you are predicating #3 as your hand-off key and are count from outside back inside. This is the way Emory Bellard would handle running the Triple Option at this Defense. As mentioned there are lots of supplimental plays that are success vs. this 53 concept. He didn't want the defense to dictate not being able to run the option. Options and inside and outside Counters is all we ran. Triple Rules vs. this defense 1. Your SE/TE is being defended by #1 in the perimeter, who is responsible for deep outside 1/3 2. #2 is the pitch key who is on the LOS as a 9 tech. 3. #3 your hand-off key is the LBer over your tackle, anytime your hand-off key is Off the LOS, we read the next man inside #3, unless he is 4 or 4I (tackle covered), B gap or 3 tech (defender under the tackle) then we will block 1 inside of 3. A 5 technique on the LOS, would be read. In this case, next man inside #3 is under your tackle in a 3 tech-which we will block and not read. So the Triple then becomes automatic outside or a double option. Where all the QB is concerned about now is meshing and pitching or keeping off #2 the 9 tech.
The playside HB rule is wall-chase, he will wall the 1st off the line support inside #2 in the perimeter. In this case, 1st off the line support inside #2 (9 tech.) is LBer #3, who he will wall. Since it is automatic outside, #3 may take FB in that case PSHB can go to the Chase who is the Free-Safety in this 8 man front.
So based on the structure of this defense, if we called the Triple Option, it would turn into a double option, with the QB pitching or keeping off #2. This would happen automatically based on our rules.
When I coached for Emory Bellard, this is how he would handle the structure of this defense if the Triple Option was called. Which is our case regardless of the defense, we called it 3 out of 5 times. There are some other 53 alignments, using different techniques as you well know.
Hopefully this wasn't to confusing?

We saw this defense several times this season. Here's what worked for us.
We ran 3 step--slant / flat and the A back had several big plays. The OLB'er would get picked by the slant trying to get out to the flat.
We ran rocket with good success when we could handle the DE.
Our best, though, was outside veer. Sometimes we ran heavy with a double team on the 3 tech and other times we ran base and fold blocked the 3 tech and LB'er.
