I'm trying to figure out how a loop option would work against a reduced flank while remaining sound. Would you only run it against a reduced flank when the defense is giving a steady diet of squeeze scrape? What other situations do you guys see preventing a loop option from being run. Also curious about what people think about looping versus an odd stack (I believe this would be considered reduced by your classification) with a "hot" invert. Seems like quite an uphill block for your wing.

The reason you don't loop vs. a reduced is you don't have b - gap protection they can out number you on the dive inside. we will loop on our double options - arc #2 and let fb block b gap run through

3 - 3 is reduced if ss is on line - if ss is off line we consider it an ace front (4-3)

I know this is an old thread but I have a question. I know you said you can't loop a reduced front. What if you switch the assignments of the Wb and the Tackle. For example, against a 44 the Wb would block the ILB and the tackle would block the FS. The only concern I saw was the BSILB making a play on the dive. BUT if your center can tight reach and cut him off does it work? I have much less experience then anyone on this board so please feel free to criticize.

And when I mean the WB blocks the ILB i mean he goes in through the B gap while the tackle loops to the free.

the hb would not beat the fullback to the linebacker.
There is a lengthy article on the website as to how to loop and run a two man triple option with the qb replacing the fullback and the fullback blocking for him

I have read that article. How often is it used? And how often do you get the ball pitched?
